BIBI Gives D.C. a Show They Will Never Forget During Her First Ever World Tour

We all have those concerts that just stay engraved in our heads forever. Everything about that concert was monumental, unforgettable, and breathtaking. Attending this show will forever have a special place in my heart. On June 12, The Theatre at MGM National Harbor, D.C. was graced with the presence of hip-hop/R&B singer BIBI. With this being her first tour, the excitement was palpable throughout the venue, as fans had been eagerly awaiting the day to hear from her.

This show was like a movie, leaving you entranced the entire time. The moment the show started, concertgoers were introduced through VCR to our main character, EVE. A character portrayed by BIBI herself, EVE is a famous singer known to all. The VCR takes place back in the day, with EVE in a gorgeous dress, hair curled, and smiling from ear to ear. It’s a glimpse into who EVE is and her story. The moment the VCR ended, the red curtains on the stage pulled back, and BIBI emerged. The crowd erupted in cheers, and the entire venue got on its feet. Standing in the center of the stage, she wore a navy blue and white vest and skirt. Her jet-black bob haircut suited her quirky personality, and she looked absolutely stunning. Starting the show with “Midnight Cruise,”  her ‘80s trot-style song had the entire audience begging for more–showing the life of EVE during that time. After a striking opening, the audience was then shown a different side of EVE with the beautiful ballad, “Hangang Gongwon.”

Throughout the concert, BIBI talked to us as if we were all the best of friends. She began with a warm hello to Washington D.C., showing her bubbly personality through every wave and interaction with the crowd. BIBI has a way about her that will have you gravitate to every word she says. She told us a hilarious story about how, while on a run earlier that day, she inhaled a bug. The way she tells a story feels like she’s talking to you personally, even though there is a crowd of people in the venue. We got to see her interact with the crowd throughout the ment, and it was really admirable to see how much she truly cares about her fans. With each compliment from the crowd, she would smile and answer back with a sincere thank you or a joke. After having a conversation with us, she explained that she was going to show us the story of EVE, and with that, we moved on to the next portion.

The next song, “Scott and Zelda,” is an adorable song about two love birds. During the track, BIBI and her backup dancers interacted with one another, creating a cute scene. An adorable moment with one of her backup dancers saw them duck behind the desk on stage, trying not to be seen by the guard. The crowd didn’t know if they wanted to sing or say “aw.” The next song, “Bam Yang Gang,” is one of BIBI’s most well-known songs. The crowd was on their feet, singing along to the perky track with smiles on their faces, and cheered each time she took a breath.

During the second ment, BIBI performed one of the quickest outfit changes ever seen. In the blink of an eye, she was off the stage and back on, causing the audience to erupt in laughter. In her new outfit, a teal two-piece top and skirt, the lights turned a vibrant red, shifting the mood from lighthearted to sensual in an instant. With the change in atmosphere, her track “Burn it (feat. DEAN)” started playing, and the crowd couldn’t contain their excitement. We then slowed it down with the groovy, retro track “Pygma girl,” and this track set the tone for the rest of the story dealing with EVE. After that, we were given a new VCR that made us feel like we were watching an Oscar-winning film. Taking a dramatic turn, we transitioned from the lively EVE to a more reserved, somber EVE, and from there, the new EVE emerged.

The next track is a hit that everyone knows the words to. The entire venue was on their feet, screaming along to the lyrics of “Sugar Rush.” There was a twist though: the usual hip-hop track was now an EDM banger. After a sweet ment, BIBI changed into a red two-piece tank and shorts set. With the words “Naked BIBI” as a belt around her waist, it was clear that we were no longer looking at the same EVE. This was now EVE-1, and with that came a change in vibe from the setlist. With songs like “Hongdae R&B,” we got a crazy skit where her backup dancers were trying to fight her, and the staff was holding her back. Following behind that were her tracks “Real Man” and “Meat.” After a hilarious ment about her life in Hongdae, how much she loves Kendrick Lamar, and a quick outfit change with Jeopardy music playing in the background, we were off to the following songs on the setlist.

“Apocalypse” and “Derre” were the next two songs, followed by a new VCR. This VCR showed the attitude and personality of EVE-1– striking staff, yelling, and hating doing interviews. These VCRs truly showed the talent that BIBI has. Her acting is phenomenal, and you couldn’t help but be glued to the screen every time the VCR started.

We then got to hear the short but sweet unreleased track “Winter (unreleased).” This track was breathtaking and had everyone swaying along to the beat, but laughing when she commented on how long the outro is. Next is the final song from the EVE: ROMANCE: “Bluebird.” Coming out in a gorgeous, tan-colored, bedazzled dress and white wings, she performed this song mostly in falsetto, showcasing her stellar vocals. Now that the album portion of the show was over, BIBI performed a melody of previously released tracks. The moment “BIBI Vengeance” began, you couldn’t help but stand on your feet and sing the song word for word. The entire crowd was singing, and it was one of the most electrifying moments in the whole show. “City Love” was another striking moment in the concert. This rock track had the audience cheering the entire time, and the cheers got even louder when BIBI ran through the crowd. As she went from aisle to aisle, she interacted with fans and picked a lucky one to go on stage for her performance of “Best Lover.” This was a heartfelt moment in the show because the fan was genuinely excited, and it was clear that this was a precious moment for her. We then got to hear “Fedexx Girl (feat. CHANGMO)” and “Dingo X BIBI - She Got It.” After a ment where BIBI went through the crowd asking audience members about their unique jobs, we continued the setlist with “The Weekend,” “KAZINO,” “Binu,” “Pado,” and a secret song, “Bumpa.” We finished the setlist with “Eat My Love,” and with much dismay, we all sang our hearts out to the track as the curtains closed.

BIBI truly showed up and showed out during the show. With this being her first world tour, she did not disappoint, and I would recommend everyone to see BIBI in their lifetime. It is an unforgettable show that will make you want to see it over and over again.
